Cleaning and Inspections
It is important to come in every 6 months to get your jewelry cleaned and inspected. Visit us and get it checked—and enjoy a chocolate truffle while you're at it!
Common Cleaning and Inspection Questions:
Q: Why should I get it checked every 6 months?
A: We can be rough on our jewelry just by going about our daily lives. Getting it cleaned and checked every 6 months helps preserve the longevity of your precious pieces. It ensures your stones are intact, checks that everything is secure, and keeps your jewelry shining bright for years to come.
Q: How long does the free cleaning and inspection take?
A: It depends on how busy the store is when you visit, but once we take the item, it usually takes around 5-10 minutes. While you wait, you can enjoy a complimentary chocolate truffle.
Q: What happens during the inspection and cleaning process?
A: When a team member inspects your pieces, we look under a microscope to check for any chips or cracks in the stones, ensure the prongs or channels are holding the stones securely, and make sure everything is smooth. Then we take the jewelry to the back and clean it using an ultrasonic cleaner and a steamer.
Q: What is the difference between a free cleaning and a polish?
A: Cleaning uses the ultrasonic and steamer. If you'd like a more detailed cleaning to restore your jewelry to like-new condition, that would be a polish and refinish. This currently takes about a week, so you'd leave your item with us and pick it up once it's finished. Our jewelers will polish, plate (if it's white gold), and tighten every stone, bringing the piece back to a like-new state.
Q: If I want to clean it myself in the meantime to keep it shining before the 6 months, what should I use?
A: We recommend using one of our cleaners for the best shine until your next visit. If you'd like to purchase a cleaner, come see us in-store or shop online. If you don’t have the cleaner, we suggest using dish soap and water.
